Our New gTLD Portfolio: What Extensions and Why?

Our New gTLD Portfolio: What Extensions and Why?

We are actively building this portfolio.  As quick as we can.  Why?  There are many, many domainers who have embraced the new gTLD market.  Some of these extensions are perfect in terms of versatility; they work with just about anything (examples would be .website, .site, .live, .store, .space, .online, xyz., etc.).  Some extensions have some domain names that are a perfect fit, but other combinations seem silly
For example, we registered Metal.fyi for $4.99 (with no regrets, in fact) but "metal" really doesn't fit the extension (not sure what would, actually...not our favorite extension). This is an example of one of a generally less attractive extension, and some names are simply poor fits. Another example from our portfolio is Asthma.today.  Asthma is a great keyword, with high search vilume and high PPC realted advertising, but "Asthma.today" leaves something to be desired.  This can be very significant.  Another example from our domains: we own ECig.services.  It's a fantastic domain name, and in terms of value, it's probably worth a few hundred dollars or more. But, ECigs.store would be worth much more, perhaps low four figures or more.
Before I buy a name, I weigh the name and the extension together. Whether we select a domain to register or not comes down to four factors: 1) Some extensions are incredibly versatile and most potential names are a good fit (.website, etc).  If it's a good enough domain, we'll register the name.  2) the extension enhances the value of a name by combining with the name (ex: Ratings.live, Card.store, or Bag.lunch).  3) the extension adds a quality, a category, a detail, or micro-niche to the name (ex: Traders.gold, Metallica.one, 000.directory).  4) It's such a good name in terms of length and direct search volume that it's worth registering even if the domain isn't a perfect fit for the extension (Ex: Metal.fyi.  I also could mention a .fyi domain I sold a few months back for $200 on afternic, but it's not a comp;liment to state that the domain and the extension are poor matches so I won't list the actual name.  It is worth noting that XXXX-fyi sold for $200 IN SPITE of the poor name/extension fit, however (not the real name).
You can check out some of our new gTLD domain names on this site.  We have most listed for sale, with paypal accepted.  Our long term plan is built around portfolio growth, which means we reinvest profits after domain sales.  We believe in selling in volume, as you'll notice many of our BIN prices are way below appraisal value (less than 10% of appraisal value in some cases).
